    I wonder how many times a year this has happened. I go co with a friend. We snatched a trailer, 40 footer, and get out on the highway. Obvious to us both, we're overweight. Opt to pull the load. Only one scale between us and destination and it's often not manned. But it was that time. 114. Double load. Just curious. Has anyone ever counted how many tolls there are between Chicago and Boston?

      Typically I stay in the right lane to be courteous and allow the faster traffic to pass.. the police don’t care about being courteous, they prefer to avoid conflict with merging traffic from on/exit ramps

    How much is the toll in NY that 2 detours is still cheaper in fuel than whatever toll you have to pay? Or did I understand that part wrong? Greetings from Ireland

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407 День назад

      The toll road is run by a separate enterprise so it requires a separate wide load permit which is not easy to obtain for big loads

  • @JoeHTX
    @JoeHTX День назад

    It was interesting to watch all three segments of this heavy haul, more so because I live in Nacogdoches, Texas, slightly over two miles from the plant that you brought the load to if you go by the road! I measured it on Google maps, "as the crow flies" and it's only slightly over 1 mile.

    Would you buy another truck with an Allison? Would you get a Western Star with a Detroit and Allison? Probably a better combo for fuel economy. The Cummins from my experience has extremely strong engine brake, compared to my experience with the Detroit engines. The Detroit sounds way better with the non-VGT turbo. Even with the fuel consumption difference, you’re not hauling cheap freight. I’d just want to be comfortable.

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407 День назад

      I would need to do some significant research on ways to make the Allison get better fuel economy before I bought one for myself. It’s just throwing the profits right out the exhaust pipe

      You need to get a separate permit for New York toll roads and it’s not easy to get for bigger oversize loads

  • @user-ln7of9gs4s
    @user-ln7of9gs4s 2 дня назад

    Maybe you’d get better fuel economy with a Detroit and an Allison. There’s a dump truck channel, and their dd13(or dd15) get half a mile per gallon better than the ISX. The other thing with the Allison, it’s under constant load and puts out more power. If you weren’t so heavy maybe it would do better.

    I enjoy the videos, heavy haul fascinates me. Especially the counter-intuitive part where they take you off the main roads onto small back roads and side streets. I generally understand the reasons but it still seems backwards. Impressive skills you have all around. Working internationally and bi-lingual as you do is impressive. I would like to learn more about permitting and what's involved with crossing the border but you may not be able to show much of that. My one suggestion would be to try to edit down the length of your videos or do them in parts. I find myself skipping ahead in places and I know that hurts you on the algorithm. As others have pointed out, you definitely have the personality, patience and a desire to share your knowledge that makes you great for this job. Very well done all around!
